Reach Break is an oasis in the center of Astoria’s downtown beer zone.
The brewery founded in 2017 boasts a cozy taproom and a plethora of outdoor picnic tables that are covered by a massive tent when the weather calls for it. Ringing the outdoor space are food trucks offering an array of cuisine.
The taproom and brewing tanks are inside a former used-car showroom (note the original roll-up doors). On tap are at least a half-dozen beers and a hand-crafted seltzer, and the beertenders are among the friendliest in town.
Reach Break founder and head brewer Josh Allison is happy to keep the operation modest, although his beers are now canned and available in bottleshops and markets. Sours are a specialty, but the brewery also produces a first-rate IPA and pilsner.
