Obelisk (named in tribute to the famed Astoria Column) is the city’s newest brewery, founded in 2022. 

   Co-owners Dave Coyne and Nathan Lampson are focusing on high-quality beer that takes a little longer to brew. Barrel-aged, small-batch varieties are brewer extraordinaire Coyne’s specialty, a skill he honed while at Fort George. 

   The spacious Bond Street taproom is west of the downtown beer zone, but it’s worth the walk with 16 taps and a gleaming, 23-foot Douglas fir bar. In another life, the building was a beer distribution warehouse, which is fitting.

   Try one of Coyne’s experimental beers created in collaboration with other breweries for a special treat.
