RJ Kiepke, the owner of Hondo’s, is Astoria’s dean of brewing. He’s been doing it longer than just about anyone else.

   The Marine Drive nanobrewery is named after his beloved dog. The taproom inside often features a dozen or so beers, which is impressive given the modest scale of the operation. Hondo’s, located near the Astoria Co-op, also offers affordable pub food and table seating. There’s even a pool table. 

   It may also be the best place on the North Coast to buy home-brewing supplies, if you want to give that a whirl.
