ABC Astoria Brewing has long attracted throngs of visitors to its downtown brewpub off the Riverwalk, especially in summer when the view deck off 11th Street is almost always filled.
But walk around the block to 12th Street where a lesser-known taproom awaits. There’s a view of the brewhouse below and glimpses of the shimmering Columbia River.
Founded in 1997, the brewery had been focused on making enough beer to support its brewpub, taproom and company-owned bars – until Brad Kenoyer took over a couple of years ago. He led a major rebranding that included broader distribution, a canning line and updated logo. Most importantly, he hired a talented brewer away from Buoy, Andrew Brown.
Brown has reimagined the lineup and partnered with other breweries to create tasty special beers.
