FORT GEORGE’S SUDSY PIER TO OPEN ALL SUMMER

By now you’ve probably heard that Fort George Brewery has a cool pier that slices into the Columbia River, offering awesome views.

The Beer Pier (official name) made its debut in time for the fireworks show last July 4, totally refurbished with seating and decorative lights. Oh, and there was a pop-up taproom, a food truck and a place for a band to play.

People loved it – even on those windy waterfront days. Fort George, however, struggled to find enough seasonal workers to staff the new venue, causing it to open somewhat sporadically.

Problem solved!

The brewery just announced that the pier will be open weekends through Labor Day, which, roughly translated, means the entire summer.

The hours are Friday and Saturday, 3 p.m. to sunset, with Sunday brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The menu on Friday and Saturday is Mexican-influenced, featuring a variety of tacos and burrito bowls. Prices range from $6 to $16.

Brunch offerings ($12 to $15) include riffs on Eggs Benedict with either smoked brisket, Canadian bacon or grilled veggies, biscuits and sausage gravy and “breakfast tacos.”

The pier is behind one of Fort George’s warehouses at 70 W. Marine Dr., just west of the main brewing facility in the big black building.

Kids and dogs are welcome.

“Oh, man,” he says, envisioning that day. “It’d be a dream come true for me.”
